Expert Services

In our specialist areas we are able to provide objective, independent and reliable expert support for clients involved in mergers, acquisitions, valuations, floatations, feasibility studies, Public Inquiries and various forms of dispute resolution.

Our expert services are characterised by attention to detail, excellent communication skills and a collaborative style of working with other technical specialists, legal and financial professionals, regulators and the public.

GWP provides the following Expert Services:

  • Expert witness;
  • Dispute resolution;
  • Community engagement; and
  • Due diligence and feasibility studies.

Expert Witness

Senior members of staff are frequently called upon to act as expert witnesses to tribunals including civil and criminal courts, arbitrations, mediations and planning inquiries.

GWP partners and staff who act as experts have all received appropriate professional training and understand their duties under Part 35 of the Civil Procedure Rules and other relevant codes of conduct in UK and international tribunals.

We have often been complimented by lawyers and clients on the high standard of our reports and our effectiveness when giving evidence.

Dispute Resolution

Sometimes parties to a dispute need outside help to reach a negotiated settlement. GWP can offer such assistance through expert determination, mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Community Engagement

Experience in facilitating effective community/stakeholder dialogue in connection with construction and mining projects. In particular, explaining technical details of projects in ways accessible to the public and non-technical professionals involved in construction and mining projects, and communicating community concerns and suggestions to technical specialists in ways accessible to them and where appropriate translating local concerns to  technical solutions.

Due Diligence:

GWP is able to respond quickly and effectively in providing resource and reserve evaluations as background to mineral property acquisitions as well as advice on operating and environmental risks and uncertainties.

We have experience providing due diligence support for major public companies as well as smaller private organisations in a range of minerals including cement raw materials, aggregates and building stones.

GWP has provided geotechnical, geological and mine planning expertise for a number of large feasibility studies. Examples are:

  • open pit mining of coal and lignite in Venezuela and Northern Ireland;
  • establishment of new cement works in Poland, UK, Ethiopia and the Republic of Ireland;
  • aggregate quarrying in the UK and Poland; and
  • several large development projects in old quarry voids in the UK.
