Hydrogeologist
A hydrogeologist is required to support our expanding team of water specialists and geologists. The successful applicant will work on hydrogeological projects in UK and overseas related to water resources, mining and quarrying. Duties will include site supervision, data analysis, modelling and reporting. Overseas travel can be expected.
The applicant should hold a Masters degree in hydrogeology (or be working towards it) and have a relevant first degree in geoscience. Previous work experience is desirable but not essential.
Candidates will be self-motivated, able to work well both within a multi-disciplinary team and independently, and available to work in UK and overseas.

Graduate Engineering Geologist/Graduate Geotechnical Engineer
Due to our expanding workload, GWP requires a graduate geologist or geotechnical engineer. It is desirable but not essential that you have a relevant post-graduate qualification. Our minimum entry requirement is for a 2:1 at first degree level and a good mathematics A-Level or evidence of equivalent attainment at university level. If you do not have a postgraduate qualification, support may be available for relevant post-graduate studies.
Working alongside a team of geologists, geotechnical and mining engineers and hydrogeologists, you will liaise with clients and will assist in organising and conducting site investigations, geotechnical assessments, CQA and environmental monitoring. Work will also include the analysis of data and technical reporting as well as quarry design work including the design of tips, lagoons and excavated slopes and other matters related to the extractive and waste industries.
The role will require a sound knowledge PC based software, including Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. You may also be required to use AutoCAD, LSS surface modelling, Rocscience and Flac finite difference software (for all of which, suitable training will be given).
You will be self-motivated and able to work well both within a multi-disciplinary team and independently. A full UK driving licence is essential. The work is primarily within the UK but some overseas work may be required.

Technical Assistant
A technical assistant is required to assist a team of geologists and geotechnical engineers due to an expanding workload. The successful applicant will work on geological, geotechnical and hydrogeological projects usually related to quarrying, mining and water resources.
Duties will include collating, verfiying and analysing technical data, undertaking some site based environmental monitoring and investigations and assisting with the preparation of technical reports etc. The position will require extensive use of PC based software, including Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. The technical assistant may also be required to use AutoCAD, as well as database, surface modelling, and GIS software (for which suitable training will be given). The post will involve some site work.
A degree in geology or a related discipline is desirable, although diligent, highly motivated candidates with ambitions to progress in this field and with A levels in pure and/or applied sciences and a good GCSE in mathematics or evidence of attainment to an equivalent standard will be considered, and full training will be given. You will be self-motivated and able to work well both within a multi-disciplinary team and independently. A full UK driving licence is essential.

Experienced AutoCAD Technician (Maternity Cover)
Candidates should have at least 1 year full-time experience working with AutoCAD v2000 or above. The successful candidate will join our small CAD team under existing team members and will be required to work independently to a high standard using our in-house standards and procedures.
The successful applicant will be available from mid September 2008, to cover 6 months cover maternity leave beginning in October.
